Your Responsibilities
Position: Freight Forwarding Specialist – Ocean Freight (Import/Export)
In this responsible role, you will independently manage and coordinate international ocean freight shipments in both import and export. From order intake and booking cargo space with shipping lines to preparing shipping documents, customs clearance, and final delivery – you oversee the entire logistics chain.
Your tasks include close communication and coordination with customers, shipping lines, agents, and service providers around the world. You will check freight invoices, review transport documents (e.g., Bills of Lading, delivery notes, customs papers), and ensure a smooth flow of information across all parties involved. Solid basic knowledge of customs procedures and familiarity with standard systems (e.g., ATLAS) are desirable for import handling.
You’ll work within a close-knit and supportive team and benefit from our modern, cloud-based IT infrastructure that allows for flexible working from any of our office locations.
Your key responsibilities at a glance:
- Independent handling of ocean freight shipments (FCL and LCL) in import and export
- Booking transport services with carriers and service providers
- Creating and reviewing transport and customs documents
- Communicating with customers, agents, customs authorities, and global partners
- Monitoring and coordinating the entire supply chain
- Calculating and invoicing freight services
Your Profile
- Completed training in freight forwarding and logistics services or similar qualification
- Professional experience in ocean freight is desirable
- Good knowledge of MS Office; experience with TMS (ideally Riege Scope) is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of customs procedures (e.g., ATLAS) is a plus
- Strong customer and service orientation, as well as team spirit
- Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and communication abilities
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
